Myburgh and Me - errrr and Mike

One of the best 5 day hikes I have done was the Witels, past Ceres. Although that said, I have only ever done two 5 day hikes. You hike up a super high and steep mountain for 6 hours, and then spend a night up top in the hut above. Sadly on this occasion, the area had been burnt out by fire the night before, and so we had no drinking water for half a day, as it had all been used to put out the fire and and save the hut.

 Toilet with a view.

Mountains still burning as we hiked. the last 3 nights of the hike we slept on the river banks, and ask would rain down on us from the fire at night.

3 days of the hike was basically hopping along rocks in the river. Super fun, but our new Canadian friends, Carissa and Kendra were not so good it, and would slip and crack their skulls on the rocks, and ruin their in-built radio backpacks in the water!!

At stages there was no path, so you had to swim along the river, while floating your backpacks on the water.

 Tricky!

 Its Matt Damon!

Darn Graeme, always trying to catch people in embarrassing bath scenes.

 Happy times

Hmm, I don't seem to be enjoying my bush tucker!

 Errrr, howdy Mike

After 4 days, we only had done about half the route (thanks to Kendra's slow rock hopping abilities), so we took the emergency exit out, called Adderly Street, which was a major slog in itself.

Whats life without a big jump into a rock pool from Graeme - I am surprised he has got his shorts on though!

Myburgh and me

While perusing Graeme's blog the other day, I was delighted to see he had tagged me in most of the photos I was in. That made it very easy to find some photos of us from great times in the past, so I have taken the liberty of stealing them from his blog.
Do check out his blog here, he has some amazing pictures!

Graeme and I like do do lots of hikes together - here we are on the hike to Seal Island in Hout Bay - great for spotting seals, if your nose can handle the delicate aroma!

This is one of my favourite spots in Cape Town, on the way up Karbonkleberg about Hout Bay. Here is a massive drop straight down the cliff to the rocks and sea below - a great spot to look down on the birds. My poor mom always freaks out when I get close to the edge here - what do you think of the below pic Mom?

Attempting to find Myburghs Waterfall Ravine

Having fun in the wind on Paarl rock.

Wow, its Matt Damons younger brother!
Hmm, was Graeme on this hike? Must be if he has pics on his blog of it! Some geocaching with Vespax.

Chilling with Sally during those fun Willow Road days

Errrrrr, where did you get that tan Graeme?

Errrrr, a somewhat whimsical pic of me from the Varsity camping days, back when I had hair.
Oh, and I think we are going to need a bigger skottel!
