Ode in West Brompton Cemetary

Row upon row, they live side by side in harmony,
separated by centuries, and a few blades of grass.
Were they alive, they might have been lovers or enemies,
but now, fate has made them neighbours,
sleeping next to each other in eternal dark.

Flowers adorn the homes of the most recent residents,
while cracks and moss adorn those from the past,
some are looked over by crosses, some are guarded by lions,
but surely this must be heaven, for never have I seen,
so many angels, shedding tears for those left behind.
