Greenwich

Mr Warren and I went geocaching down Greenwich way, and a lovely time was had by all.

Kitty

Kitty!!

Kitty!!!

At the Royal Naval College

Good backdrop for a jump!

I have fallen and I can't get up!

Interesting sundial. The space between the shadows of the dolphins tails tells the time on the curved board at the back.

On the Greenwich Meridian.

Wicked! Interestingly, GPS's measure zero degrees about 100m away from the official Greenwich line. Something to do with the WGS84 format used by GPS's based on sphercial ideals and mean sea level. In other words, I have no idea!

Inside a camera obscura, projecting a live image of the Naval College a mile away, using just smoke and mirrors! Camera Obscura means dark chamber, and was 1st theorised by Mo-Ti in China. Aristotle later built on the theories behind it, but the 1st one was made by an Iraqi scientist, Abu Ali Al-Hasan.

Fancy skylight at the royal observatory. All in all, a fascinating place to visit, with lots of interesting facts about navigation, time etc.

The Millenium Dome, now renamed the O2 Arena, and doing quite well for itself now as a concert venue.

Relaxing at the Cutty Sark pub, after a hard days caching!
