Cape Town Misc 1

Here is a selection of random photos from my recent trip to Cape Town.

In the Ardene gardens, which has a tree that ties for the tree with the widest canopy in South Africa.

Tree scrubbers

In the last 2 years, Cape Town has seen an influx of Golden Orb spiders. These beauties can sure be frightening, with their juicy white backs, mottled black and yellow stomaches, and dark black legs, the top half super hairy, and the lower half shiny and pointy.
On one hike from Newlands to Kirstenbosch, we saw 22 of these blighters. This particular lady was strung up across Mom's door in the morning, just above head hight. Mom walked right underneath, without seeing it!
These spiders have the strongest thread of any spider, and are called Golden due to the way their silk shines golden in the sun. The male is a tiny little guy, which lives on the female's web, and grabs some food when she is not looking.
They are not poisonous to humans luckily, so Mom managed to get over her instincts to kill them all, and is now living peacefully with 3 of them in her garden.

Some tree close ups in the Hohenort Hotel, which has won some awards for best garden worldwide.

Fish and chips at Hout Bay

Cow meets Girl!
The Hurd hurd, Corrine, Dana and I went to Botrivier for the weekend, where we stayed in some cottages overlooking these charming cows.

Off for some shopping and lunch in Greyton.

Proably the best facilities I have been to - Corrine models at the sinks. Look, a wedding dress in the facilities below!

Chilling with my homies.

Road to nowhere

Hey, that photo of the window cleaners with the trees reflected in the glass is an award winner in my book. A great shot indeed.
