Bournemouth

I went for the day to Bournemouth for some beaching, cycling and geocaching.

The sign says it all!

Various shots of the beach and pier.

Dad, this one is just for you, as I know how much you love angled shots!

Boat trip alert!

Beach huts

Poole, just up in the distance, has the 4th most expensive area in the world for buying property! If I could afford to buy in the 4th most expensive area in the world, I don't really think I'd go for Poole!

I decided to have a go on the famous helter skelter - not bad!

In side the helter skelter

Harry's stack. The Isle of Wight used to be connected to the mainland here by a chalk bridge. In fact, Wight is old english for peninsula!

Busy beach!
As a boy, Winston Churchill used to play here, and one day while playing hide and seek with his cousins in the chines (the valleys you get here) he jumped off a bridge to escape his cousins, and missed the tree he was aiming for, breaking many bones, rupturing his kidneys, and being in a coma for 3 days. Silly guy!

The bournemouth eye, a fixed line heluim balloon. You hop in and it rises up to about 150m up, and then they winch you back down again, an idea pioneered by the Victorians

In the Bournemouth Eye

Broken glass

Big mushroom!
