Dubrovnik

Ah Dubrovnik, the Pearl of the Adriatic. I was sad I could not spend more time there.

Entering Dubrovnik - probably the biggest ship I have ever seen!

The old well in the entrance to the old city.

Dubrovnik was heavily bombed in the Croatian War of Independance in the early 90s, so many of the old roof tiles needed to be replaced. Here are some of the new tiles, but they sure did a good job in restoring the city.

The old city is surrounded by the Old Walls, and walking the 2.5 km circuit is one of the top toursit attractions. With all its ups and downs, it sure seems a lot longer! Glad I didn't have to do it in the middle of summer.
Following are some scenes taken from the old wall. The rustic red roofs sure are a sight leading off into the Adriatic sea.

Apparently its popular amongst the locals to stand on the gargoyle and see how long they can balance for. I only found out that you are supposed to stretch your arms out to the side, which would have made it mighty tricky!
