Whereas Santorini was the scenic and glamorous island, Ios the relaxed party island, Mykonos was the quaint old-world charming island.
And our guest-house owner was one of the nicest people that Alison and I have ever met, our hearts just turned into goo around her!
Mykonos is full of tiny cobblestome streets, which all head off at various angles. There is no structure and no street names, so trying to find one's way home can be a bit of a mission. We started off at the sea, walked inland to try find out place, and ended back up at the sea again, without eve knowing we had turned around. Crazy!
Someone back in London told me it was designed like that to confuse Turkish raiders.
Main seafront area for dinner and sundowners.
These windmills are the most famous site of Mykonos I guess. Later in summer they put the sails up, cute little triangular ones which look very cool.
I loved this scene with this artist "hard at work"
This is probably the other big site in Mykonos, a very delightful church. These photos may look like I took them in black and white, but this is actually a colour photo!
The harbour area
Alison spent a lot of the trip searching in every gift shop we found for just the right lucky blue eye bracelet, popular in the area. She ended up buying about 10 of them, because after buying one, she ended up finding a better one later!
Look at the guilty look on her face as I catch her buying another one, after she had promised not to buy any more! Tsk Tsk!
Hey, have a nice summer!
