Lake Como - Varenna

I went to Lake Como for 5 days, to visit dad and Kobus, who were on a 3 week trip around the Northern Italian lake region. He had booked a lovely little spot on the hill in Varenna, over looking the lake. But by the end of the trip, he regretted it, due to the crazy windy roads going up and the impatient Italian drivers sticking on your butt.

View from our flat - Nice!

Kobus, also known in the region as "Il Mafioso". I think its the hat!

What a lovely spot for a cappucino. Do not choose randomly from the coffee list in Italy, as you might end up with a cafe coretto, and then you'll be kicking yourself!

Dad agrees to pose for a very rare photo of the elusive "diligence pater familiaris"!

Cool tree down the lake

Ducks fight over the delicious bread. Speaking of bread, when you go into a shop in Italy and ask for some bread, they will tell you they have sold out, even though there are loaves of pre-sliced bread available on the shelves - apparently they do not view this disgusting western habit as being bread :o)

Lots of flowers out at this time of year!

Wahey, got a ride in a Ferrari at last!

Old church in the woods

This is the typical boat of the region.

here's a geocache in here somewhere but I'll be darned if I can find it!

It looks like a charming spot. I love that shot of Kobus.
