Chamonix mountains

On 2 days we finished early enough to take a cable car up the mountains. On the first day we went up Brevent, which was delightful, with lost of room to go hiking up top and a lovely lake, which we didn't quite have the time to hike to, but we got half way there.

The gingerbread man, as seen carved into a glacier

The other day we went up Aguille de midi, up to 3800m above sea level - the temperature change was from 30° in Chamonix, to stepping out the cable car at 1° up top - brrr. Here we see some nutters slogging up in the snow.
And here they are, camping in the snow on top of the mountain!

Another day at the office for this guy, doing some work on the rock.

The elevator to get to the top section of the cable car station counts height in m, instead of floors - pretty cool!

 spectacular vistas

What a beautiful mountain. That camping looks pretty chilly!
