Prague castle and St Vitus's Cathedral

2 weeks after Belgium, I went to visit Dad and Kobus again for 3 days in Prague.
As I took so many photos, I am struggling to put them into concise themes. A logical place to start would be central Prague / Charles bridge area, but there are too many photos, and none of them standing out as being that greatm so I am struggling to choose.
So instead, I will start off with our visit to Prague Castle.

Prague castle is not really what you would picture as a castle at all, but is apparently "the largest coherent castle complex in the world, with an area of almost 70,000 m². Thus 2 day passes are quite common to allow time to see it all, although we just spent half a day there.

The main section of the castle seen from the city is St Vitus's Catherdral (he of the dance) which is in the centre of the complex.

The wall behind me is an example of Sgraffito (the predecessor of graffiti).
It is a technique in which plastered walls are etched into, to create permanet pictures. This is a fine example of flat zgraffito creating an interesting 3d effect. Thanks for the etymology lesson Dad and Kobus!

St Vitus Cathedral - a really spectacular church, and hard to get the magnificence of it on a camera.

 Lovely gargoyles

 Inside the cathedral

A more modern addition to the church

The light was not so great for photos in the cathderal, so trying photos on beach mode made them much brighter - and slightly enhanced later.

Interesting saint holding Jesus on the cross.

Another church in the castle grounds

Much older looking and completely different inside to St Vitus Cathedral

 Testing different lightings again

This way to your table sir.

In the gardens with the lads
