Split - Diocletian's Palace

The main tourist attraction in Split is Diocletian's Palace. Diocletian was a poor orphan if I am not mistaken, who beat the odds and became a Roman emperor, who amongst the usual Roman atrocities, did many fine things uniting the area etc.
He was also one of the very few Roman emporers to retire, and built this palace as a retirement home for himself.
Inside the subterranean section of the palace - quite impressive!

Diocletian lords it over his territory

This looks a bit Arabic to me.

Outside in the main old square in the Palace grounds. In the evening there was a wonderful concert here with a lady with a superb voice putting on a great show!

Inside the church

Err, this reminds me of the Nazis for some reason.

The bell tower lit up at night - a spectacular sight!

Your photos are superb, as always, Rust, especially the ones of the old boats and the sunsets from the boat.

It makes me feel I am there, too.

Congrats! Keep up the good work. You are some photographer. may someone out there recognise your talent...
